Kolonn ventures eastward and presents the theme of Asian Art featuring art and craftsmanship from China, Tibet, Japan, and Burma.
The comprehensive theme, comprising 137 items, spans sculpture, art, and particularly ceramics with a focus on the white gold from China. Highlights include a pair of yellow-glazed dishes with Emperor Yongzheng's seal, a bronze mirror from the Tang dynasty nearly identical to one at The Metropolitan Museum, 12 cups with saucers in famille rose and the so-called Houses of Parliament pattern, a rare sculpture of the Hornbills bird from the Qing dynasty, elephant-shaped candlesticks, and a series of bowls from the Ming dynasty, some with unusual decoration in the Beehive style.
Amongst this and everything else in an unusually colorful and decorative theme, the many woodcuts from the Land of the Rising Sun - Japan - stand out, fascinating and inspiring with their elegant lines.
Lastly, the theme's esteemed guardian is presented - Buddha, who has manifested in a number of figures from Chenrezig to Amitabha Buddha and Buddai, all exceedingly appealing, at Kolonn's themed auction.
Step into another culture and allow yourself to be inspired by its wisdom and beauty.
